Professionals never produce open-cell insulation. Open-cell PUR is used only for noise insulation. As insulation in any structures used only classic PUR density 0.038 lb/in3 (45-60kg/m3) freon-based. Conscientious contractors must comply with the code of professional practice!!!
Why insulation with polyurethane foam?
We should immediately say that insulation with polyurethane foam - is the choice of people who have learned the excellent one lesson of life:
The miser pays twice!
In many situations in life, saving money is reasonable and praiseworthy, but you can not save on some things!
You can't save on your health and the health of your loved ones.
Polyurethane foam is probably the best modern insulation and waterproofing.
In fact, there is nothing to prove.
Cons
One disadvantage of PUR is its vulnerability to ultraviolet rays, but this problem can be solved with painting. The second is the relatively high cost of insulation. But,
how many advantages!
Polyurethane foam has the lowest thermal conductivity of all insulators, ranging from R-3.4 (0.019) to R-6.7 per inch (0.03 W/m*K). The equivalent of a 4 inches layer of polyurethane foam is a brick masonry thickness of 8 feet!
Polyurethane foam insulation by spraying is characterized by a complete absence of joints and gaps, which excludes the possibility of so-called "cold bridges." Due to the latter's absence, the wall will never get wet because of condensation, and the heat will be better and more evenly distributed in the space of the room.
The effective lifespan of polyurethane foam is 25 - 30 years. Once splurge - and forget about the problem for a quarter of a century!
This polymer is environmentally safe, biologically neutral, does not cause any allergic reactions. Recall what we talked about above - do not save on human health - No exposure limits have been established in the U.S. by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) or ACGIH (American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists). OSHA does not regulate it for carcinogenicity.
Thanks to the spraying technology, the insulation layer of polyurethane foam is even and flawless from an aesthetic point of view. There are no hanging rags, no visible joints - a pleasant uniform porous surface.
Unlike other common insulation materials, this material is not only hygroscopic but, moreover, is an excellent waterproofing agent. A layer of polyurea, a variety of rigid polyurethane foam - almost eternal protection of the foundation of your house from groundwater, excellent waterproofing of the pool, reliable protection against leaks in the roof, and much more.
Polyurethane foam is heat-resistant and frost-resistant. You will never have the problem of delamination, cracking, or destruction of a thermally insulating layer.
Such a powerful set of advantages of polyurethane foam is worth stopping at it!
